The Value of Being Aware

April 10, 2012

In General Conference April 2012, Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Presidency of the Seventy gave a powerful message about lessons that are learned through disabilities and other challenges in life.

He told about his grandson Paxton, who was born with “a very rare chromosomal deletion.” In his talk he shared some of the experiences his family has had since Paxton’s birth and the eternal lessons of trust, service, and God’s love he has learned through those experiences.

Elder Rasband concludes his talk with a challenge to all members of the Church: “Brothers and sisters, it is my hope and prayer that we will continue to bear nobly our burdens and to reach out to those among us who are suffering and in need of being lifted and encouraged.”

As you do this you will experience as Elder Rasband and his family have “the important value of being aware of and interested in the lives of those around [you], learning not only the importance of giving help but also the overwhelming joy that comes from helping others.”
