As an Area Missionary, you will help others by teaching families how to have family history conversations in their own homes. You will also work with other Family History staff by assisting and collaborating in various assignments. In addition, you will provide support to family history consultants and others with family history callings in person, via the Internet and by using specific computer programs. Missionaries will also have the opportunity to do some traveling.

- Experience using Church family history programs and sites such as familysearch.org, Family Tree and Indexing
- Foreign language ability is most welcome in all assignments and is required for some specialized assignments

"A group of youth just came to our office from Claveria in the Laoag, Philippines mission on their way to the temple today. We helped them print temple cards from the four generation sheets we left them just two weeks ago. It was a great experience to see instant results from our training. Their leaders, consultants and family history director were with them and it was a real treat for us to see them here so soon after teaching them about registering, filling out the pedigree sheet, and printing the family ordinance records and temple cards. They are in the temple right now doing the work and will take the 13 hour bus ride back to their home in the morning. They are faithful people! We love our experience thus far here in this country and time is flying by because we are so busy."
