Teaching Youth about the Godhead

During this month you will have the opportunity to help youth learn about the Godhead—a topic that will be addressed in Young Women, Aaronic Priesthood quorum, and Sunday School meetings.

As a leader of youth, you will be privileged to help encourage young men and young women to work to strengthen their relationships with Heavenly Father. The video above, which can be used as a teaching resource, features two siblings from Ghana who share their own experiences about how they have drawn closer to God.

Teachers are encouraged to be prayerful and follow the direction of the Spirit when studying topics and facilitating classroom discussions. The ideas included below are simply suggestions of topics on which you may want to focus.

Young Men

In learning about the nature and roles of each member of the Godhead, young men can better understand their identity and divine heritage. The outlines answer such questions as “Why is Jesus Christ important in my life?” and “Who am I, and who can I become?” The outline “How can I know my Heavenly Father?” matches well with sections of the Duty to God book.

Young Women

Young women study from the same outlines as young men. They will find answers to questions like “What do we know about the nature of the Godhead?” or “What are the roles of the Holy Ghost?” In addition, the lessons from this unit correspond with the Personal Progress value experiences of Faith, Divine Nature, and Individual Worth.

Sunday School

Sunday School outlines, while still the same theme, are different from Aaronic Priesthood quorum and Young Women meetings. In Sunday School, teachers can help youth better understand the answers to such questions as “How can I help others learn about Heavenly Father?” and “How does the Holy Ghost help me teach the gospel?”


There are more Come, Follow Me outlines each month than can be covered during Sunday meetings. Specific outlines should be selected prayerfully based on needs of the youth.
