Check out how you can defend the Lord’s plan for families on social media!
Many people in the world believe that the Lord’s doctrines of marriage, families, and the divine roles of men and women are outdated or no longer relevant.
But that’s why it’s more important than ever to make our families our top priorities! Here are five easy ways you can use family pictures to share your beliefs about Heavenly Father’s plan for families. Share using #TheFamily.
“Everyone … can be defenders of the Lord’s plan described in the family proclamation. If it is the Lord’s plan, it should also be our plan!”
Bonnie L. Oscarson, Young Women General President
1. Share why you are grateful for marriage.
“Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God.”
Been to any weddings lately? Share a picture of the happy couple and bear your testimony about marriage between a man and a woman. Or maybe you’re just grateful for your parents’ relationship? Snap a picture of them and share how YOU have been blessed by their marriage.
2. Celebrate you being you!
“All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God.”
You are a child of God, created in His image. Celebrate who He created you to be! Are you a selfie expert? Snap a selfie or share a picture of yourself doing something you love. Talk about why you are grateful to be the person God created you to be.
3. Testify about eternal families.
“The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave.”
You could do a lot with this one! Do you have a favorite story about an ancestor? Or maybe a picture of you with a family member who has passed away? Share your feelings about eternal families.
4. Show how your family keeps close to Christ.
“Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
What do you do as a family that brings you closer to Christ? How do you live the gospel in your everyday life? Maybe you read scriptures at breakfast or maybe you have great discussions about the gospel. Share a picture and tell your friends why living the gospel blesses your family.
5. Share some brotherly/sisterly love.
“Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3).
Children are a gift to their parents—but also to their siblings! Have any fun or silly pictures of you and your brothers and sisters? Give them a social media shout-out and share why you love them!
