Abish
Helping her people believe in Jesus
Abish worked for a queen
who was a Lamanite.
Abish had learned about Jesus
Christ from a vision of her father.
For many years, she believed in
Jesus and wanted to follow Him.
But she had not told
the other Lamanites yet.
One day, a Nephite named Ammon
came to the kingdom to teach the Lamanites about Jesus and God.
The queen and king
believed what Ammon taught.
The queen and king knew that Jesus
would come to the earth and make it so everyone who believed
in Him could be forgiven.
The queen and king felt the Holy Ghost
and were so happy that they fell to the ground. Ammon and the servants fell
too. Abish was the only one standing.
Abish wanted to tell the
people about this miracle.
She hoped the people would believe in the power of God when they
saw what had happened.
So Abish ran from house to house.
She told the people to go and see what
God had done for the queen and king.
Many people came to the
queen and king’s house.
They were surprised because
it looked like the queen, the king, and all their servants were
dead. The people were confused. They argued about what had
happened to the queen and king.
When Abish came back,
she saw the people arguing.
She was sad because
they did not see God’s power.
Then she took the queen by the hand, and the queen stood
up and praised Jesus.
The queen took her husband
by the hand, and he stood up.
The king told the people about Jesus.
Then Ammon and the
other servants stood up.
They all told the people
that Jesus had changed them.
They now wanted to only do good
things. Many people believed them.
Just like Abish had hoped,
the people saw God’s power.
Many people believed in
Jesus and were baptized.
They had God’s Spirit with them.
They even established
the Church in their land.
They saw that Jesus helps anyone
who repents and believes in Him.
