We apply the scriptures in our lives by using the doctrine and principles they contain to help us become more like Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. This lesson is intended to help you apply the doctrine taught in various Book of Mormon doctrinal mastery passages.

Often, passages that mean the most to us are those we apply to our own lives. For example, they could answer a difficult question, bring us peace in a challenging time, or help build our testimony.
Read the following statement from President Russell M. Nelson or watch “President Nelson—The Scriptures Teach Us about Jesus Christ” (0:59), available on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
We can go to the scriptures. They teach us about Jesus Christ and His gospel, the magnitude of His Atonement, and our Father’s great plan of happiness and redemption. Daily immersion in the word of God is crucial for spiritual survival, especially in these days of increasing upheaval. As we feast on the words of Christ daily, the words of Christ will tell us how to respond to difficulties we never thought we would face. (President Russell M.
