Alma 18–19

The Faith of a Queen

Finding joy in Jesus Christ

A Lamanite queen ruled with her husband, King Lamoni. The king asked a Nephite named Ammon to teach him about the Lord. The king believed what Ammon told him. The king knelt to pray and asked the Lord to forgive him. As he prayed, the king fell to the earth. It looked like he was dead.

The king’s servants took him to the queen. They put him on his bed. He lay there and did not move for two days and two nights.

During that time, the queen and her children were very sad. They stayed with the king and cried over him. Some people said the king should be buried. But the queen wanted to talk to Ammon first. She heard that he had God’s power. The queen’s servants asked Ammon to come to the queen.

The queen told Ammon she heard he was a prophet of God. She asked Ammon to go see the king. Ammon knew the king was alive. It was God’s power that caused the king to sleep. Ammon told the queen that her husband would wake up the next day.

The queen trusted Ammon and had great faith in God. She believed her husband would wake up the next day. Ammon said she was blessed because of her great faith. He told the queen she had more faith than his own people had. The queen stayed close and watched over her husband all night.

The next day, the king woke up. He told the queen that he had seen Jesus Christ. The queen and king knew how much Jesus loved them, and they were full of joy.
