When should teacher council meetings be held?

Wards are encouraged to hold teacher council meetings quarterly. Teachers benefit from frequent opportunities to counsel together about teaching. Also, quarterly meetings can help teachers develop a spirit of unity and mutual support.

Teacher council meetings are normally held during the 50-minute class time on a Sunday when teachers are not assigned to teach. For example, Sunday School teachers could attend a teacher council meeting on a second or fourth Sunday. Priesthood, Relief Society, and Young Women teachers could attend on a first or third Sunday. Teachers do not need to wait for a formal council meeting to have helpful discussions about teaching. They are encouraged to frequently share ideas with other teachers about teaching.
