有位名叫抹大拉的馬利亞的婦女曾經被耶穌醫治過，她來到墳前，看到大石頭已經被移開了，覺得很訝異。耶穌的身體已經不在墳墓裡了。

他們問抹大拉的馬利亞在哭什麼，她說有人把耶穌的身體帶走了，她不知道耶穌的身體在哪裡。

她轉過身來，看到一個人，以為是看管墓園的。那個人問她為什麼哭泣，抹大拉的馬利亞問那個人知不知道耶穌的身體在哪裡。

然後，那人說：「馬利亞」，她立刻認出那個人就是耶穌。耶穌要她去告訴使徒，祂已經復活了。

抹大拉的馬利亞和其他幾位婦女告訴使徒，耶穌已經復活了。一開始，使徒都不相信她們的話。
