“Meet Elder M. Russell Ballard,” Friend, July 2016, 13
He is the only boy in his family. He has three sisters.
He worked for his father’s car dealership in the early 1950s and was the top salesperson.
He served in the United States Army Reserve and became a first lieutenant.
On his mission in England, he and his companions held meetings in market-places or town squares. They set up a stand, sang hymns, and shared their testimonies.
He met his wife, Barbara Bowen, at a dance in college.
When Jesus was on the earth, He called 12 men to be His special helpers and witnesses. They were called Apostles. He has called Apostles to be His special helpers and witnesses today. They testify of Jesus Christ to the whole world. Elder Ballard is an Apostle.
